THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family-related matters. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters dealing with child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the by their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned beyond her legal profession as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce custody, child support and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
