THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year helping parties to help them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law, including divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
